About VetShifts

Built by people who understand the veterinary industry.

VetShifts was created by veterinary industry professional Lauren Chalwell, who spent decades working alongside practices and seeing the challenges of locum recruitment firsthand.

Too often, practices were relying on Facebook groups, recruitment agencies and word-of-mouth referrals to fill critical shifts, while locums struggled to find flexible, trusted work. The process was time-consuming, inconsistent, and lacked the confidence that comes with proper vetting.

Lauren knew there had to be a better way. Working alongside the experienced team at VetXtend, that vision grew - and VetShifts became part of a broader mission to help veterinary practices run more smoothly with technology built specifically for the profession.

VetShifts is free to join for locums - there is no subscription. A 5% service fee applies per completed shift, and any expenses you claim may be reimbursed.

Who can join VetShifts?

VetShifts is designed for veterinary clinics and veterinary professionals, including veterinarians, veterinary nurses and veterinary receptionists.

Can I choose when I work?

Yes. You control your availability and decide which opportunities to apply for.

Can I see the pay rate before applying?

How do I get paid?

Payments are processed securely through the platform once the practice has approved your shift and the hours you submitted.
